Une Femme Est Une Femme

I've nearly hit level 42 for those of you keeping track.

Yesterday, I watched "3-Iron" again and enjoyed it just as much the second time around. I was planning on doing something else while James, Kate, and Kate's friend Tim watched it but then i got sucked in. Oh well.

After not having purchased a DVD for a very very very long time, I got the criterion edition DVDs of "Hoop Dreams" and "Burden of Dreams."

One of the special features on "Burden of Dreams" is the documentary "Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe." The short documentary is the result of a bet that Werner Herzog lost. He had bet Errol Morris that Morris would never complete a feature film or that he'd eat his shoe. Morris went out and made "Gates of Heaven" and Herzog ate his shoe. The documentary is quite funny but manage to be more than just that. "Burden of Dreams" is Les Blank's film about the making of "Fitzcaraldo," I'm going to rewatch Fitzcaraldo before I watch it.

Godard's "A Woman is a Woman" was more playful than anything else. The film incorprated lots of clever uses of cinematic techniques and had a very strong sense of self consciousness throughout. It's an earlier Godard film and while enjoyable it didn't impress me to the degree that so many of his other works have.

Anyway, back to yesterday.

For some reason James, Kate, Leonard, Tim, and I decided to go to Grimaldi's, a pizza place right across the bridge in Brooklyn. Typically, this wouldn't be that big of a deal. The pizza is brilliant and well worth the short walk across the bridge. Unfortunately, it was raining yesterday and we walked there with no umbrellas or jackets and arrived soaked. It was one of the stupidest things I've done since living here but also very rewarding because Grimaldi's was especially on top of their game yesterday and might have produced the finest pizza I've ever eaten.

That just made me really hungry.
