No Retreat No Surrender on DVD

I've started production of a deluxe DVD edition of No Retreat No Surrender. The reason I'm doing this is because the version that I own on VHS has never been released on DVD and I never expect it to be. As a result, I've made a copy of the VHS to my computer and am now in the process of designing menus and creating extra features for the DVD. Obviously, the video and audio quality of the film is going to be pretty poor but it's better than nothing. Especially since the VHS was wearing out and the possibility of soon being left with nothing was very real.

So far, the only extra feature I've got is the No Retreat No Surrender/Brokeback Mountain mashup that I made. I'm also seriously considering recording a commentary for the film with Leonard and possibly writing short bios on each actor.

I've finished the first draft of the disc and you can see the menus in the slideshow at the top of this post. I've already changed the background image for the first page of chapters and I eventually plan on replacing the Criterion Collection text and logo. If you're interested in a copy of this once I'm finished, let me know.

Absolutely!!

Too many of your chapter titles are quotes. I don't like it mainly because it kinda makes the lines less funny.

Dude! Who wouldn't be interested in a copy??

(That is to say, I'd love one.)

Wow. This is great.

You ought to include your essay "Jean-Claude Vagina Dentata" on the DVD, or at least in the DVD box.

if it's not blu-ray i'm not buying it.

Are you going to improve the quality of the VHS version?? I already have the retard Europe version on DVD, but I also have the American version on DVD, but its VHS quality.

Unfortunately, no. I don't have the expertise nor the resources to actually do any sort of restoration. I wish I could.

Hey man hows work coming on bringing the original version to dvd?
Harris where did you get the american dvd??

Yeah, I would definitely like a copy when you get it complete. Started watching a subpar VHS rip today to examine the soundtrack sequence so I can put my score in order. Wish I could find the three missing tunes though. Those being "Kelli Stiles - Ask Me To Stay", "Mary Reynolds - A Bottle And A Song" and "M.J. Lallo - Close To You".

My bad for taking forever to reply back, I got the American version on DVD from ebay, but it isnt there anymore

Ben,

VERY interested in obtaining a copy once you're finished. Please let me know when you do and I'll promptly order one. One of my fav's when I was a kid, thanks for doing this!!

does anyone want me to ISO the american No Retreat Bo Surrender and torrent it up?

Hi. Im a loyal fan of No Retreat No surrender. Its one my favorite movies from the 80s. When I saw that a dvd was made I was excited...that is until I watched it. The dvd is so different from the VHS. I couldnt enjoy it like I used to. I'd appreciate a torrent of the VHS version that you made into a dvd.

I WOULD LIKE A COPY AS WELL I LOVE THIS MOVIE

Jared, could you plz put up the american version on a torrent?

How can I get a copy or see "No Retreat, No Surreder?

Hey Jared can you still put up the 'american version' of this flick on torrent?

did everyone get it? Everyone im sorry first time EVER upload a torrent.

So does the American version have the original soundtrack? Please seed the torrent! I've got nothing!

just leave it downloading and ill start seeding when I go to sleep.

The torrent is rediculous. 0 seeders, 0 leechers. Even if there were seeders it could take months to download. Have you got an AVI rip of the US version (with original soundtrack)? I would imagine it would be less than 700mb. And upload it to rapidshare it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i've been looking for this movie on dvd for years please let me know when you are done with this...

Same with me, just write and tell me when it is done!!
